OzFish Perth Chapter have identified three sites that are currently being surveyed around the Shelley Foreshore area in the Canning River for a resnagging project. President of OzFish Perth Chapter Andrew Matthews, has found evidence of old shellfish reefs in the area and is hopeful that by introducing large woody debris (snags), local species such as Pygmy Blue Mussels will colonize the new structures. This will in turn attract predators such as Black Bream. The project partners include City of Canning, Recfishwest, BCF, Mainroads WA and Fishers for Fish Habitat volunteers.
