We are at the forefront of expanding the capabilities of future leaders in the recreational fishing and natural resource management sectors. Our new Young Leaders program is designed to empower individuals who are passionate about preserving and restoring aquatic ecosystems and ensuring a sustainable future for our fish and fishing.
*This program is designed for people who are 18 to 26 years of age.
HABITAT OFFICERS
This is a self-paced role, where you will work closely with your local chapter to identify key habitat issues and form solutions with other chapter executives and members with support and additional resources from project staff when needed.
This role is perfectly suited for anyone with an interest in habitat health and aquatic species and University/TAFE students wanting to gain additional experience while studying. Read the Habitat Officer Position Description.
INTERNSHIPS
Suitable for students wishing to complete an internship as part of their university requirements.
Interns will work closely with OzFish project staff as if they were a paid project officer, learning a range of diverse skills from project management, stakeholder and community engagement, environmental monitoring, reporting, budgeting etc. Read the Internship Position Description.
WORK PLACEMENT (18+)
Also suitable for University or TAFE students who need to complete work placement requirements but cannot commit to the entire duration of an internship.
Work placement students will also work closely with OzFish project staff as if they were a paid project officer, learning a range of diverse skills from project management, stakeholder and community engagement, environmental monitoring, reporting, budgeting etc. Read the Work Placement Position Description.

Leading change for the Great Barrier Reef
Katie Broadfoot, a participant in OzFish’s Young Leaders Program, was recently selected to attend the Women’s Environmental Leadership Australia (WELA) Great Barrier Reef Leadership Intensive in Townsville. This program aims to empower and uplift women who are working to drive change in the climate and environmental space.

OzFish’s Young Leaders Program participants were recently invited to attend the inaugural Ocean Youth Summit at the National Maritime Museum in Sydney —Cass Monckton from NSW, Claudia Parker from WA, and Katie Broadfoot from QLD all took part in what was an event to inspire the next generation.
