Ripples of Change Project – Paddle Two

August 10 @ 9:00 am - 2:00 pm AEST

Ripples of Change; supporting women’s mental health through social connection and environmental stewardship.

The Ripples of Change Project aims to support local women experiencing social isolation and hardships with the opportunity to connect and be part of the energy and flow of the Manning River.

The project will involve a series of 4 kayaking paddles in the upper reaches of the river, with entry and exit points granted from local Manning River residents.

We wish to invite professionals and leaders of our community to join us to paddle the river, as we experience the magic of building resilience, connection and environmental stewardship within the Manning Valley. After attending the first paddle, attendees can then “pay it forward” by sharing this invitation with somebody in your community that you feel will benefit from such an experience. The story continues for each following paddle, creating Ripples of Change for mental health and wellbeing support.

We encourage all participants and supporters of the cause to join us at a local venue in November as we celebrate our successes, stories from attendees about their experience and work together to continue building opportunities and stronger connections for mental health support in the Manning Valley.

On behalf of Manning Valley Kayaking Group, Manning Landcare, OzFish Unlimited and supporting partners we would like to thank the private landholders along the river who have allowed us access to their property for this project.

Paddle Details:

Each paddle will have a limit of up to 7 people on the water, with the option to participate in waterway habitat mapping with OzFish Unlimited for future river restoration projects. The paddle will be 7.5km in length, travelling downstream with the current, taking around five hours to complete. Interested participants should be confident in their ability to complete the journey, as well as able to swim at least 20 metres in the event of an unexpected capsize.

This event is invite only.

This event is supported by Manning Valley Kayaking,  Manning Landcare and OzFish Unlimited and has been made possible through a collaboration between Hunter Local Land Services and Mid Coast 2 Tops Landcare Network.
