Campaspe Loddon Chapter

Earlier in 2021, a few members of local angling clubs in the region decided to join forces to form a local OzFish chapter to improve the health of our waterways and give the fish a helping hand. The Chapter wants to work alongside local groups to improve both the environment and fishing in the region. A foundation project for the Chapter is to enhance fish habitat at Lake Eppalock through mapping of existing habitat to help identify key locations for re-snagging efforts. Future projects also include an in-water habitat rehabilitation project for Barkers Creek Reservoir currently being developed with Bendigo & District Fly Fishers Inc. and water management authorities in the region. The Chapter also hopes to organise riparian vegetation planting and cleanups at popular fishing locations between Kyneton and Bendigo.

Location

The Chapter covers the Campaspe River, Loddon River, Coliban River, Lake Eppalock, the Upper Coliban Reservoir and Cairn Curran Reservoir, along with the Lauriston, Laanecoorie and Tullaroop Reservoirs. These waterways provide good stocks of brown and rainbow trout, golden perch, silver perch, Macquarie perch, Murray cod, Murray spiny crayfish, native catfish, eels, yabbies and blackfish.

Country

The traditional owners and custodians of these waterways include the Dja Dja Wurrung, Taungurong, Wathaurong and Woiworung language groups of the Kulin nation, who reside with us in this area.

Meeting

Members catch up periodically throughout the year for informal gatherings, discussing projects and enhancements to the regions fish habitat. Meeting details, including dates and venues, are communicated to members via email notifications.
