OzFish partners with Tackle Tactics to restore shellfish reefs 

The future of Australia’s shellfish reefs is on the right track, thanks to a freshly-inked partnership between OzFish Unlimited and Tackle Tactics.

Manufacturer and wholesale distributor, Tackle Tactics is the home of well-known brands such as TT Lures, ZMan, Platypus, Toadfish and Okuma, found in BCF stores across Australia and designed to help anglers around the country catch quality fish. 

The OzFish mantra resonated with the team at Tackle Tactics, who were looking to support the conservation and regeneration of shellfish reefs in Australia, aligning with the commitment they have in the US with the Toadfish brand they distribute here in Australia. 

Toadfish is a strong supporter of shellfish reef restoration across the US, having already funded the planting of over 200,000 square feet of oyster beds through sponsorship and donation. 

Tackle Tactics CEO, Gareth Williams, believes that it is time that we see the same sort of commitment and impact here in Australia. 

“We are passionate about the Aussie environment and particularly our waterways. We want to do our part to support sustainability efforts that work to ensure the long-term health of our ecosystems,” said Gareth.  

“We want to help improve our coastal waterways and know that oyster reef restoration is key to improving water quality and supporting marine life”. 

Craig Copeland, OzFish Founder and CEO, says that the partnership marks another opportunity to educate and inform recreational fishers about the importance of improving our waterways. 

“We have the volunteers and personnel to get projects off the ground, but its corporate support like this that really helps us take restoration to the next level. I cannot wait to see what this partnership can produce in the coming months,” said Craig. 

Justin Willmer, Tackle Tactics pro-staffer and avid recreational angler, first came across OzFish while fishing his local waterway, the Pumicestone Passage, and was inspired by the work being done to improve local waters. 

“I saw that OzFish were taking action to restore shellfish reef in Morton Bay, and I immediately wanted to get involved. With Tackle Tactics being the go-to supplier for fishing and outdoor enthusiasts, it just seemed right to link up and work together in making Moreton Bay just that little bit better,” said Justin.
