Dr Geoff Collins – Senior Project Manager North Queensland

Based in Townsville, North Queensland, Geoff is a keen recreational fisher and is passionate about improving fish habitat in the tropics.

Geoff is an adjunct Research Fellow with JCU and his primary research interests include coastal ecosystem restoration and environmental tolerance of tropical fish.

Over the past decade, Geoff has worked on a variety of research projects across eastern and southern Australia, focussing primarily on ecology and physiology of fish and crustaceans. His research is published in peer-reviewed journals and has been featured on ABC Radio National. His present work in the tropics focusses on a variety of habitat restoration projects that include: improving connectivity in freshwater and mangrove wetlands, improving water quality, restoring riparian vegetation and seagrass meadows, quantifying carrying capacity of aquatic systems and monitoring the recovery of fish populations.
