Adrian Macey – Project Officer North Queensland

Having grown up on a farm in regional NSW, much of Adrian’s time was spent swimming and fishing catching Australian bass, rainbow and brown trout in the highlands plus flathead, tailor, dewfish, tuna and Australian salmon off the coast.

Adrian’s love of fishing continued into his career where he worked in the commercial fishing industry throughout the NSW south coast, far north Queensland and the Torres Straits. This opportunity gave him a greater understanding of fish habitat and the need to maintain a good ecosystem.

Adrian then completed a bachelor’s degree in Earth Sciences at James Cook University with a strong passion for the mechanics of how ecosystems operate through inland and coastal waterways.

He has worked with local councils in far north Queensland focusing on water quality testing and creek monitoring.
