As I waded through the knee-deep water, casting my line, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of fulfillment and purpose. I heard about OzFish a few years ago and was eager to learn how I could contribute to the organisation’s vision of healthier waterways.
A team of Griffith University marine scientists’ preliminary findings shows that 3 million new oysters are living on oyster baskets built by OzFish volunteers in Moreton Bay. Along with new oysters and other shellfish, another 4.5 million animals, such as crabs, live on and among the structures.
