The Goondiwindi Classic is a catch-photo-release tournament. Prizes are awarded based on the length of the fish, which is to be submitted via a photograph taken. The event is designed as catch and release competition and carp cull to protect and preserve our native fish. Correctly photographing your fish is critical to ensure your catch is eligible for entry into the competition.
There are a few simple rules to follow:
Step 1 – Designated ID tag
Competitor designated ID tags must be collected Friday 9 June 2023, which will be available from the Bowls Club (2 Bowen
Street, Goondiwindi), between 3-9pm.
All competitors must attend in person to collect their designated ID tag unless other arrangements have been pre-organised.
Step 2 – catch and photograph your entry
Once caught, take a photo of the fish on your supplied measuring mat with your designated ID tag clearly visible in the white box.
Once you have taken a photo, release the fish where it was caught. Try and complete this process as quick as possible and keep the fish wet at all times.
Size Limits (per QLD Fishing Regulations):
- Murray Cod: 60cm minimum
- Golden Perch (yellowbelly): 30cm minimum
Step 3 – Submit your photos
Photo entries will be required to be shown to an official in the designated times specified.
This will occur during the following times at the Goondiwindi boat ramp:
Saturday 8th June
9am-11am
3pm-4.30pm
Sunday 9th June
9am-11am
LATE ENTRIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED
