Survey Day for Fish Hotels at JJ Smith Park

The OzFish Unlimited (Gold Coast Chapter) is excited to announce that we will be re-snagging the Logan at JJ Smith Park.
But first, we need volunteers to help us survey the waterway at the park, Scrubby Creek. Join us in taking some Baited Remote Underwater Videos (BRUVs) which will show us fish species and numbers are living there now. We can capture some good ‘before’ shots and use this information to compare with what is using the hotels we install further down the track. Volunteers will also be surveying the depth of the water so we can make sure the fish hotels are in the right spot and make them the right height.
If you have a kayak or small boat that can be carried and launched please feel free to bring it along, those that so willย be required to bring and wear appropriate safety equipment e.g. life jacket.
Volunteers will be greatly rewarded with a sausage sizzle and a drink afterwards.
Training and all cameras will be supplied on the day.
