Rotary Waterbug Blitz at Geelong

April 9, 2022 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm AEST

They Might Be Tiny, But Waterbugs Are Wonders Of Our Waterways.

Under a microscope, waterbugs appear to be part of an alien world, yet they’re abundant in our rivers and provide a vital food source for many native fish. Different waterbugs require different water parameters to survive, and some are sensitive to change while others display resilience. Therefore, collecting and identifying waterbugs is a family-friendly and fun activity that gives us information on water quality.

The Rotary Clubs of the Geelong region will be joining OzFish to undertake a waterbug Blitz on the Barwon River.

You’re invited to learn about water quality in the Barwon River, and what OzFish and the Catchment Management Authority are doing to improve fish habitat in the region.

This is a free event, and lunch will be provided.
