If you are keen to spend some time outdoors whilst cleaning our beloved saltmarsh from rubbish and meet like-minded people who care for the Richmond River, then this is for you.
Saving Our Saltmarsh is a state government funded restoration and rehabilitation program that OzFish are conducting in the Richmond River. The projects is part of our push to revitalise and restore the local waterways to create better habitat, and as a result, better fishing in the Richmond River catchment.
On the day, we will be collecting rubbish and counting how much rubbish is removed from the area. This information will be provided to Tangaroa Blue and will provide important data for our ongoing monitoring in the area.
Our activities are fun and family-friendly, creating a relaxed environment where all area welcome to come along and participate to learn more about these important ecosystems.
Participants are asked to make sure they wear enclosed shoes that can get wet, a hat (an OzFish one if you have one!), sunscreen and bring plenty of water.
The day has been planned around the low tide to ensure participants can get up close and involved in this dynamic ecosystem.
The program is being funded by the NSW Government through a partnership between the Saving our Species program and the Environmental Trust
