Saving Our Saltmarsh – Clean up Day – Richmond River

If you are keen to spend some time outdoors whilst cleaning our beloved saltmarsh from rubbish and meet like-minded people who care for the Richmond River, then this is for you.

Saving Our Saltmarsh is a NSW government-funded restoration and rehabilitation program that OzFish are conducting in the Richmond River. The project is part of our push to revitalise and restore the local waterways to create better habitat, and as a result, better fishing in the Richmond River.

On the day, we will be collecting rubbish and counting how much rubbish is removed from the area. This information will be provided to marine debrie experts, Tangaroa Blue important data for ongoing monitoring in the area.

These activities will be fun and family-friendly all are welcome to come along and participate to learn more about these important ecosystems.

Participants are asked to make sure they wear enclosed shoes that can get wet, a hat (an OzFish one if you have one!), sunscreen and bring plenty of water. The day has been planned around the low tide to ensure participants can get up close and involved in this dynamic ecosystem.
