During 2023, OzFish Moree Chapter have held several habitat building events where volunteers constructed Fish Hotels. It is now time to install these hotels in Whittaker’s Lagoon for the fish to use. These habitats are important for native fish as it gives them shelter and protection, a place to breed, a place to rest, and ambush sites.

6:00pm – 7:00pm Dinner provided; Brief discussion about the benefits of habitat for Native Fish in the Gwydir Catchment; Discussion about Whittakers Lagoon and future works/projects.
7:00pm until Sunset – Carp Fishing

This event is also a Yabby Trap Drop Spot! Bring along any old and unwanted opera house yabby traps and get an Oar-Gee Plow lure. Opera house nets are illegal in NSW and those collected will be recycled into useful products for anglers, with the proceeds being used to support habitat restoration.
