Emigrant Creek Reef Ball Installation Day – NSW

May 20, 2023 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm AEST

Join OzFish Richmond Chapter at Emigrant Creek to help install reef balls for fish habitat!

Fish need habitat to survive. Just like natural reefs, when complex protective structures are provided, fish species abundance and diversity increases. The reef ball installation day will provide us with the opportunity to be a part of an innovative project helping our fish populations to thrive. By mimicking reef structures and placing them in specific sites of fish populations, we are supporting and attracting many different species of fish in the area, as well as providing habitat from juveniles to adult fish.

Get involved in our citizen science project which looks at what fish are using the reef balls after they are installed. Bring your underwater camera, some reef shoes and snorkel to check out what’s going on under the surface. We need lots of muscle and a bit of mechanical help to get these heavy reef balls into the water.

Registration is essential. We hope to see you there!
