Are you completing the Pesky Pest challenge and a little unsure about what to do with the fish? We don’t want to put pest fish back in our waterways as they destroy habitats and compete with our native fish. The best and most humane way to proceed after catching a pest fish is to wrap it in newspaper and place in the freezer overnight. The next day it can be disposed of in council waste or buried in the garden.
It is best practice to always check in with your local state fisheries authority to get up to date on the latest advice when disposing of invasive pest species.
