Helping our rivers

The Sunraysia region is set to receive significant support over the coming years with the setup of a locally based OzFish River Repair Bus.

Over the next three years the bus will focus on all waterways from Robinvale to Lake Cullulleraine with an aim to plant native vegetation along the riverbanks, collect tons of illegally dumped rubbish, mange serious weed infestations and help enhance habitat.

The OzFish River Repair Bus concept has been tried and tested and is a truly unique, successful initiative developed by one of OzFish Unlimited Chapters – Inland Waterways based in Dubbo.

Learning new skills

In addition to helping out native fish, the Sunraysia River Repair Bus will also provide an opportunity for up to 35 participants per year to gain unique skills in hands-on river restoration and prepare them for future employment.

The participants will undertake weekly rubbish and weed removal, revegetation and riverbend planting and habitat improvements.

This project is just another way OzFish and their regional chapters are empowering locals to work towards better habitat for better fishing.

If you would like to know more about the project or how you can get involved contact the OzFish Sunraysia Chapter or call 1800 431 308.
