Cinch Knot

  • Thread your line through the eye of your hook and wrap the tag end back around the mainline towards the rod. How many wraps around the rod will vary depending on the size of line being used however 6-8 wraps is usually enough to create a strong knot.
  • Bring the tag end of the line back towards the hook and pass through the gap between the hook eye and your wraps.
  • This will create a second larger loop running next to your main wraps. Thread your tag end through this new loop you have created.
  • Wet the knot and pull the main line and tag end to tighten the knot down onto the eye of the hook.
  • Finally trim the tag end of the line close to the knot.

FG KNOT

  • Double over the end of your braided main line to create a loop. Wrap the looped section around the palm of your hand leaving a small section free.
  • Using your thumb and index finger on the hand you wrapped the braid around spread the line apart between your thumb and index finder to open and create tension in the loop.
  • Unwind a length of leader and place the spool under your foot, this will help to maintain tension while you are trying the knot.
  • Thread the leader through the braid loop you have created with you thumb and index finger and wrap the tag around the braid on the side facing away from you, remembering to maintain the tension.
  • Pull the tag of the leader up and back through the braid loop again but this time wrapping around the side closer to you
  • Continue to wrap the leader around each side of the braid loop to create a weave of braid around the leader. How many wraps will depend on the thickness of line you are using but a knot of 1-2 centimetres in length should be enough to create a strong hold.
  • Pinch the knot where the tag ends meet and release the loop of braid you created between your fingers. Adjust the rod so that there is tension running between the rod tip and the roll of leader under your foot.
  • Lay the tag end of the leader along the braid mainline and tie a half hitch around both using the tag of the braided line. Tie another 4-6 half hitches in alternating directions to lock the leader tag in place.
  • Trim the remaining leader tag off close to the knot leaving the braid tag in place.
  • Using the braid tag tie another 4-6 half hitch knots around the mainline to lock off and create a smooth ramp into the knot.
  • Finally trim the remaining tag end of the braided line and pull test the final knot.
