Trove amongst the Mangrove – VIC

December 10, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 11:30 am AEDT

OzFish are hosting an educational event to raise awareness on the importance of Mangroves and the role they play within our fragile coastal systems.

The event will be held on the shoreline within the Queensferry municipality, located on the eastern shore of Western Port Bay. The focus area has been restored through Mangrove restoration plantings. OzFish will display and discuss the successes, trials, and challenges which arise during restoration efforts. This event is ideal for those interested in local coastal restoration and provides an opportunity to be directly involved in the conservation of coastal habitats.

Registration is essential. We hope to see you there!

The restoration plantings have involved various groups including Bass Coast Land Care, Melbourne Water, Deakin University, Port Phillip and Western Port Catchment Management Authority, and OzFish Unlimited. In addition to these groups Jason, a Queensferry landholder and local environmentalist, has played a large role in coordinating local Mangrove restoration.
