Tamworth Fish Talks – NSW

October 14, 2023 @ 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm AEDT

Landcare Australia and OzFish are hosting Fish Talks in Tamworth to educate and inspire local community members and organisations to participate in local restoration efforts.

Local fishers play a major role in protecting their waterways, however a lack of knowledge and lack of recognition of opportunity can be a hurdle to fishers engaging in restoration activities. The idea of this forum is to help overcome these knowledge barriers and build capacity among the recreational fishing community and anyone interested in improving the health of rivers. ย
ย
Come along to this free event and hear from Northern Basinโ€™s leading fishery managers and river restoration experts. Canapรฉs, beer and wine will be provided.

This event is also a Yabby Trap Drop Spot. Bring down any old and unwanted opera house yabby traps, from 1:00pm to 2:20pm, and swap it for an Oar-Gee Plow lure to support sustainable fishing practices. Opera house nets are now illegal in NSW and those collected will be recycled into useful products for anglers, with the proceeds being used to support habitat restoration.

Registration is essential. We hope to see you there!
