Saltmarsh Safari: Learn to ID – TAS

March 26, 2023 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm AEDT

Up to 70% of our favourite species to fish for use saltmarsh as habitat for at least one stage of their life cycle! These habitats play an essential role in providing nursery habitats for juvenile fish, which you may catch downstream a few years later.

Join OzFish and NRM South at Orielton Lagoon to learn more about Saltmarsh as fish habitat, and to get a progress update on one of Australia’s biggest saltmarsh restoration projects (happening in the Pitt Water-Orielton Lagoon area!). You will learn key skills to identify saltmarsh Flora and Fauna during this workshop, and then get a chance to be a citizen scientist and put those skills to use!

Location coordinates are: -42.777194, 147.528360

Attendees are asked to wear a hat, long sleeve shirt, wind/rain jacket, closed footwear (gumboots recommended if you have them), water/drink bottle. If possible, bring a smartphone with the iNaturaliste app downloaded.

Registration is essential. We hope to see you there!
