Pimp My Jetty Habitat Construction Workshop – Mandurah

April 21, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm AWST

We Need Volunteers To Help Us Make Habitat Units To Increase The Shellfish Population of the Mandurah Canals!

OzFish is launching its new Pimp My Jetty project to help boost Mandurah fish stocks by installing small scale mussel farms under private jetties. Mussels are a rich food source and promote bigger, stronger and healthier fish, which is great for recreational fishers. They also help to keep our waterways clean by filtering out nutrients and pollutants from the water.

We will be tying up and splicing mussel ropes to hang below jetties as well as bagging up recycled shells to used as base structures for ground-breaking shellfish restoration projects in the canals.

Please remember to wear sun-smart clothing, sunscreen and a hat. If you have gloves, please bring them and a drink bottle.

Registrations are essential.

The PIMP MY JETTY project has been supported by the Peel-Harvey Catchment Council through funding from the State Government’s Royalties for Regions ProgramRecfishwest, BCF and Lowrance.
