NAIDOC Culture Camp – NSW

In recognition of NAIDOC week, OzFish and Miyay Birray Youth Services are holding a camp for local kids to learn about Indigenous culture and traditional skills and practices.

Schedule

Monday 10th July  
Boys camp out on Monday and participate in activities with Elders and Knowledge holders. 

  • Nulla Nulla making  
  • Clapstick making  
  • Traditional Cooking  
  • Cultural dance 
  • Stargazing trip to Whittaker’s Lagoon with Australian National University – Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics (ANU)

Tuesday 11th July
Girls camp out on Tuesday and participate in activities with Elders and Knowledge holders.  

  • Weaving  
  • The practice of grounding flour from Traditional grains 
  • Cultural dancing  
  • Stargazing and storytelling at Whittaker’s Lagoon – Australian National University – Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics (ANU) 

 
Please bring a hat, sunscreen, water bottle, doona, swag/sleeping bag, pillows and sturdy shoes.
