Lake Wyangan Classic – NSW

The Lake Wyangan Classic is on again for members of the local community to reconnect with nature and share their love of fishing!
Join us at Lake Wyangan on Saturday March 16th for a full day of fishing to raise funds to help restore the lake! With prizes on offer for Murray Cod, Golden Perch, Catfish and even the longest Carp, there’s fun on the cards for the whole family. After the fishing concludes, our good mates from Armstrong Plant Hire are hosting a free BBQ, so stick around for the presentation and a tasty meal with friends.

Sign on (Griffith Boat Club boat ramp): 6:30am to 10:00am
Fishing hours: 7:00am to 4:00pm
Presentation from 4:45pm to 5:15pm at Griffith Boat Club boat ramp
Free BBQ from 5:30pm onwards at Griffith Boat Club boat ramp

Submitting your fish for scoring
- Pictures of fish can be sent to the mobile number provided at registrations or by presenting a photo to designated marshals.
- Photos will only be accepted between the fishing times. Any photos sent before or after the fishing times will not be accepted.
- Designated code will be announced at sign on and or at 6:30am on Saturday March 16th.
- Once a contestant has caught a fish, they will be required to return to the marshalling area and show a picture of the fish on a brag mat with the designated code for brag mat clearly shown
- The designated code for brag mat can be written down on any material (BUT IT MUST NOT BE IN DIGITAL FORM)
Rules and Regulations
1. All species caught must comply with the NSW Fisheries regulations
2. Fish must be caught between allocated times and within allocated boundaries
3. All competitors must hold a current NSW fishing licence
4. We are promoting a healthy future for the fish so catch and release only (with the exception of carp)
5. Competitors must be present to claim prizes on the day
6. Any competitor suspected of illegal fishing methods will be reported directly to NSW Fisheries
7. Boats with illegal equipment or illegal bait will be disqualified and reported to NSW Fisheries
Registration is essential. We hope to see you there!
This event is also a Yabby Trap Drop Spot! Bring along any old and unwanted opera house yabby traps and get an Oar-Gee Plow lure. Opera house nets are illegal in NSW and those collected will be recycled into useful products for anglers, with the proceeds being used to support habitat restoration.
