Fish Hotels in Coonabarabran – NSW
May 5 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm AEST
Join OzFish for a fish motel demonstration on the Castlereagh River!
The Castlereagh River flows right through town, with its headwaters originating high up in the mighty Warrumbungles.
To tackle on-going issues that the waterway is facing, the Warrumbungle Shire Council successfully applied for a grant from the Commonwealth’s Murray Darling Healthy River program to work alongside organizations to enhance the area.
OzFish Unlimlited worked alongside Warrumbungle Shire Council and identified areas that need re-snagging. We found nice suitable habitat in areas, but other areas were quite bare. The next step is to improve the habitat by adding structure, which is often referred to as “re-snagging” the river.
OzFish are now constructing specific fish hotels which will be installed into the Castlereagh River. Come check them out as part of the Castlereagh River Revitalization Project’s end-of-project celebration!
Registration is essential. We hope to see you there!
This project has been funded by the Murray-Darling Healthy Rivers – an Australian Government Initiative, the Australian Government through the CRC Program and BCF – Boating, Camping, Fishing and supported by NSW government and Warrumbungle Shire Council.
