Fish Focus Community Night – Wagga Wagga – NSW
March 30, 2023 @ 6:15 pm - 8:30 pm AEDT
OzFish are planning a “fish focus” community night to educate and inspire local community members in Wagga Wagga.
Local fishers play a major role in protecting their waterways, however a lack of knowledge and lack of recognition of opportunity can be a hurdle to fishers engaging in restoration activities. The idea of the community nights is to help overcome these knowledge barriers and build capacity to anyone interested in improving the health of their local waterway.
Speakers:
Braeden Lampard – OzFish Unlimited
Braeden will outline OzFish Unlimited River Repair Bus and OzFish Wagga projects.
Finn Martin – Riverina Local Land Services
Finn will outline the potential projects and partnerships that can be formed to implement fish habitat and riparian restoration projects to address the threats outlined.
Lubin Pfeiffer – The Full Scale Fishing Adventures
Lubin Pfeiffer, freelance fishing journalist and the host of The Full-Scale Fishing Adventures, will be talking big cod tactics in the Murray/Darling basin with lures. Lubin will cover how to select the right water, lure selection and why, what retrieves work best, and the best way to catch a big Murray cod.
Luke Pearce – NSW DPI Fisheries
Luke will outline the fish habitat mapping project that is underway in the Murrumbidgee river and display the habitat types and the threats to those.
