Brush Creek Riparian Planting Day – NSW

March 17, 2023 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm AEDT

OzFish Lake Macquarie Chapter, in partnership with the Community Environment Network and local Landcare groups, will host a community planting day.

This event will build on previous regeneration work, further repopulate the riparian zone with 200 native plants and encourage the natural recruitment of existing native plants. The site’s riparian zone is currently overrun in parts with Tradescantia, Honeysuckle, Cape Ivy, Privet, Camphor Laurel, and exotic grasses. The planned works will help to improve the ecological health and productivity by supporting native species.

Volunteers will be inducted and provided with professional guidance by staff to ensue effective techniques are implemented. This gives all participants the opportunity to learn bush regeneration techniques such as: plant identification, effective weed control and the re-introduction of native species.

The planting day includes morning refreshments and lunch for those who register. Please bring drinking water and wear long sleeves, pants, sturdy boots, and sun protection.

Registration is essential. We hope to see you there!
