They might be tiny, but waterbugs are wonders of our waterways.

Under a microscope, they appear to be part of an alien world. Yet, they are essential for our rivers and are food for many of the fishes we love.

There is a range of different types of waterbugs, with various environmental conditions they can live under. Therefore, the type of waterbugs present in a waterway are an indicator of the system’s health.

Come along to our family-friendly, hands-on waterbug sampling event to learn all about water quality in the Barwon River and what OzFish and the Corangamite Catchment Management Authority are doing to safeguard the future of fishing in our region. A BBQ lunch will be provided.
