OzFish Unlimited is an exciting NGO dedicated to helping the millions of Aussie recreational fishers take action for the health of their waterways and shore up the future of the sport they love.

OzFish Unlimited partners with fishers and the broader community to invest resources into protecting and restoring our waterways, counteracting decades of degradation. OzFish Unlimited offers a fantastic opportunity for students to work with a not-for-profit organisation and gain relevant experience in natural resource management and recreational fishing sector.

This position would be a working from home space or office and may include travel where necessary. You will work alongside one of our experienced Project Managers who will be acting as your supervisor to establish project ideas, engage with various stakeholders and deliver project outcomes. Working with the OzFish team, you can gain relevant experience in the following fields:

  • Assist with creating project briefs and reports.
  • Gain experience and build your networks with stakeholder engagement with various organisations and external agencies to deliver project outcomes.
  • Assist with budgeting and grant application writing.
  • Gain experience in organising volunteer events and work closely with OzFish Unlimited’s Engagement and Culture team to assist with marketing and promotion material for your events.
  • Research scientific literature when planning projects or scoping issues.
  • Utilise online resources to identify threatened species, habitat mapping, etc.

Working for OzFish Unlimited is a dynamic role and always changing, no two days are ever the same. Although we have listed relevant skills that you will have the opportunity to learn, there is always more to add as projects evolve.

Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years and older to be eligible for this position.
  • Minimum 90hr (12 days full time or part time equivalent); maximum 150hr (4 weeks or part time equivalent).

Other Information:

  • We recommend working the maximum number of days per week within your capacity. This will decrease your overall length of time but ensures you are getting the most out of this experience.
  • Out-of-pocket expenses are reimbursed.
