OzFish has an exciting opportunity for six members of our Central Moreton Bay Chapter! Take a trip to Turkey Beach with Robbie Porter, Special Project Officer – Shellfish Restoration, and 2 Griffith University Scientists. The occasion is to find characterisations of remnant tropical low-profile/degraded reefs to identify reef-building oysters, and assess the supported biological communities (invertebrate and fish). The lucky OzFishers will assist with activities including counting and collecting shellfish, collecting oyster tissue samples for DNA sequencing and using underwater cameras to film the reef.
The research trip leaves Brisbane the 9th of August, returning on the 17th. Transport, accommodation and food costs are covered. All you need to worry about is what you are going to pack!

Supporting these types of projects and being directly involved through experiences like this is just one of the many benefits of being an OzFish member.
