OzFish and Bottle Bend Management Committee have carried out fish habitat and environmental restoration in both the reserve and the Murray River. This has included track maintenance, installing vital rocky and woody habitats, running family friendly events, and installing riparian fencing.
Large logs were dropped into the water and 35 tonnes of rock were strategically placed. The installed structures will provide critical breeding sites, shelter and protection from predators, a place to rest, ambush sites and feeding grounds for aquatic species, such as the iconic Murray Cod.
Bottle Bend Reserve group and Sunraysia OzFish have been restoring vital areas within Bottle Bend Reserve to improve habitat for native fish and terrestrial species. To protect the riparian zone and provide designated river access points, a two-kilometre fence has been erected.
