OzFish Tangle Bins have been installed in target areas within South East Queensland since 2019. There are now 43 bins that get monitored and sorted by a dedicated team of volunteers. The bins give fishers the ability to do the right thing and put their discarded tackle and washed out bait-bags into a purpose build bin near their favourite fishing spots.

OzFish Gold Coast Chapter will work with 10 private jetty owners to install environmentally friendly hanging habitat to help restore vitally important shellfish reefs to the waterways of the Gold Coast. The project is funded by City of Gold Coast 2022/23 Catchment and Citizen Science Grants Program, and supported BCF – Boating, Camping, Fishing.
OzFish Cairns Chapter is working towards re-establishing seagrass meadows in an intertidal estuarine system in Mourilyan Harbour south-east of Innisfail. The pilot project has input from local recreational anglers and university researchers and will assess the success of a unique seagrass restoration technique.
The project aims to monitor water quality in a tropical coastal wetland and is a collaboration between Australia’s dedicated fishing conservation organisation OzFish Unlimited, NQ Dry Tropics and recreational fishers from the Burdekin Fish Stocking Association.
