FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

• What age do I need to be to get involved?

  Junior OzFishers is for ages 4-14. The program challenges are designed to be both rewarding and achievable by everyone in that age bracket. Younger Junior OzFishers can call on family members if they need a helping hand.

• Can I be a Junior OzFisher if I live outside of Australia?

  You can definitely get involved and do the challenges in your local waterways – however, we are only able to send badges to Junior OzFishers who have completed the challenges and live in Australia. 

• Can I buy a badge without doing a challenge?

  The only way to get a badge is to become a member and complete the challenges. Our official OzFish badges are very special and recognise our cool Junior OzFishers completing their challenges.

• I’m a child attached to a Family membership; can I still be involved in Junior OzFishers?

  Of course – you automatically became one when your family signed up! If it was only recently, you should expect your Ozzie badge to come in the mail in the next few weeks. If you’re still waiting after four weeks, please get in touch at info@ozfish.org.au and we’ll locate him. 

• Not enough Ozzie badges were sent to the Junior OzFishers in my household.

  We’re sorry about that – It sounds like we may not have up to date information for your family members in our system. Please contact info@ozfish.org.au with your name, email address, list of family members who should be attached to your profile and their birth dates, and we’ll get it sorted.

• I’m a member between 4-14 and have not received my Ozzie badge - what do I do?

  Oh, no. We’re sorry that you haven’t received Ozzie yet. Please send an email to info@ozfish.org.au with your name, contact details and address, and we’ll be in contact with you soon. 

• I’m a Junior member but have lost the link to the challenges page, how can I find it?

• How can I stay up to date with news about Junior OzFishers?

  Any updates about Junior OzFishers will be sent to the email address that is registered to your name. 

• I seem to be having some trouble submitting my challenge. How can I fix this?
  • The system cannot accept Word documents, but this can be easily solved by saving the file as a PDF. To do this in Microsoft Word head to ‘Save As’ and then change the ‘File Format’ to PDF.
  • The max file size for each upload is 30MB. If your Trigger Finger challenge video is longer than this, submit the challenge form without the video and then send it separately using https://wetransfer.com/, addressed to info@ozfish.org.au – we’ll keep an eye out for it!
• Do I have to complete the challenges in a particular order?

  You can tackle the challenges in any order you want!

• Do I have to complete the challenges within a set period?

  The Junior OzFishers program and its challenges are flexible and can be completed in any time frame that suits you. Whether that’s getting them all done in the school holidays or ticking them off at a slower pace.

   

   

• Can I submit the same photo if it includes two Junior OzFishers completing the challenge?

  You sure can, but we do ask that you fill out the submission form for each Junior OzFisher involved. That way we can make sure we are sending out the correct number of badges. 

• If I complete the same challenge more than once, will I receive a badge each time?

  Our official OzFish badges are very special and therefore, we only send out one per person, even if you do the challenge more than once. We hope that you enjoy helping us and turn it into forever behaviours. Every time you visit your local waterway you can do your bit for fish habitat.

• What happens if I lose a badge - can I be sent a new one?

  Oh no, have you checked down the back of the sofa or in your tackle box? We keep a record of your completed challenges, so don’t worry, you might have lost your badge but we still recognise your efforts and think you are pretty cool! 

• What happens after I submit all 10 challenges?

  Once my fishy friends have had a number of Junior OzFishers complete their challenges, we’ll get together and see who else wants to be involved in this cool club. In the meantime, keep doing the great things you learnt during the challenges and share with your friends all your new fun fish facts!
