Tackling Yabby Traps – SA
April 14 @ 1:00 pm - 5:30 pm ACST

Help recycle old yabby traps to turn them back into usable fishing products!
We need your help to dismantle opera house yabby traps so that the nets can be upcycled by OceanEarth back into usable fishing gear, and the metal frames can be recycled.
Come along to the Oaklands Wetland Education Centre to help break down yabby nets and chat about aquatic habitats and fishing.
Date: Monday 14 April 2025
Time: 1pm – 5:30pm ACST
Venue: 237 Oaklands Rd, Oaklands Park, SA 5046
What to bring
We will be working with wire yabby trap frames and tools that can be sharp. While we will mainly be indoors, please remember to wear appropriate protective clothing and bring along some gloves and comfortable scissors or wire cutters if you have them.
Donโt forget to bring plenty of drinking water and perhaps a snack. Car parking, bathrooms and air conditioning are all available at the Education Centre.
Registration is essential. We hope to see you there!
The Yabby Trap Round Up program is an initiative of OceanEarth Foundation in collaboration with OzFish Unlimited and RecFish SA. It is also supported by BCF – Boating, Camping, Fishing.
