Seagrass Flower Collection, Seaforth QLD

Be part of North QLD’s seagrass restoration project!
Join local seagrass scientists for a unique hands-on experience helping to restore one of our region’s most important marine ecosystems.
If you are keen to spend some time helping with our seagrass restoration project, learning new skills, and meeting like-minded people, then this is for you.
Our activities are fun and family-friendly, creating a relaxed environment where all are welcome. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult
What you’ll do
- Collect seagrass cores for our nursery expansion at Coral Sea Marina (Airlie Beach).
- Gather seagrass flowers to support vital local restoration research.
- Learn about the role seagrass meadows play in supporting diverse marine life.
- Enjoy a free BBQ lunch before heading to the meadow for fieldwork in the intertidal zone.

What to bring
- Drinking water and light snacks.
- Enclosed shoes that can get wet.
- Sun-safe clothing, sunscreen and a hat.
