Oyster Reef Building Working Bee, Port River SA
October 14 @ 9:30 am – 2:30 pm
Event update
Thanks to the efforts of the local community and OzFish members, all the shellfish baskets have been fully constructed ahead of schedule, so this event has been cancelled.
We are now planning deployment dates for the Port River, and will share new event details as soon as they’re available.

OzFish needs your help to build and fill Robust Oyster Baskets to restore the lost shellfish reefs in the Port River.
Before the settlement of the City of Adelaide in 1836, the Port River and Barker Inlet Estuary were home to numerous shellfish reefs, according to both colonial records and indigenous records. Now the once plentiful native flat oyster, Ostrea angasi, is found only occasionally in the Port River.
The OzFish Adelaide Chapter will be running a shellfish restoration project over the next two years. We need volunteers to come along to lend a hand with building and filling the ROBs for deployment.
Participants must be over 14+ years of age, and all children must be supervised by a guardian.
