Murdering Creek Bushfire Restoration Works – Tree Planting 9th Oct

Roll your sleeves up to help the honey blue-eye and the Oxleyan pygmy perch.
Murdering Creek is home to the honey blue-eye fish and Oxleyan pygmy perch which are important, native, small bodied (and very cute) threatened species. Unfortunately, their habitat was severely degraded by the devastating bushfires that tore through the area in 2019.
Riparian weeds are choking the banks at Murdering Creek which negatively impacts the habitat and riparian food sources for these special fish. That’s why OzFish Noosa have partnered with Noosa District Landcare to restore this key fish habitat and we’d love for you to join us.
After the successful weed removal earlier this year, it’s time to do some planting, with over 600 trees, shrubs and grasses to be planted. This will take place between 9.00am-12.00pm on Saturday 9th Oct. Meeting at the intersection of Murdering Creek & Woodland Drive
Please wear appropriate footwear e.g. sturdy boots/gumboots, sunsmart clothing, sunscreen, insect repellent and bring plenty of drinking water.
Our local OzFish Noosa chapter will also be holding a BBQ lunch for all helpers on the day.
