Help Restore The Lost Shellfish Reefs Of Moreton Bay!

OzFish is working hard to restore the amazing oyster reefs of Moreton Bay. 95% of this vital habitat has been lost since European settlement and we need to bring it back!

Our hard-working volunteers have manufactured another 3000 Robust Oyster Baskets ready to restore the once naturally occurring shellfish reefs in Moreton Bay. Now is the prime time of year to get the baskets into the water ready for free swimming oyster spat to attach to the recycled shell and begin the reef building magic.

You are invited to join us as we head to our pilot site onboard a barge loaded with thousands of baskets made with recycled oyster shell. You will be part of history as you drop the baskets into the Bay. The activity is great fun but quite physical – no need to go to the gym that day.

• Participants must be 16 years of age or older
• Wear long trousers, a long sleeved shirt, sturdy enclosed shoes, sunglasses (or safety glasses) and a hat
• Bring gloves if you have some, otherwise gloves will be provided
• Bring drinking water and a snack to stay hydrated
