The Swan-Canning black bream population are set to get a boost, with a new project set to increase numbers of one of their favourite food sources: the black pygmy mussel

We Need Volunteers To Help Us Build And Deploy Mussel Habitat To Restore The Lost Shellfish Of The Swan-Canning!
The information session and working bee will take place on the banks of the Swan at Gould Reserve. You will be guided through the project by Coordinator Andy Bossie and will inspect habitats already installed in the river.
Please remember to wear sun-smart clothing, sunscreen and a hat. If you have booties or old joggers (for wading), please bring them, don’t forget to bring plenty of drinking water and a folding chair for comfort while doing habitat prep. A free sausage sizzle will be provided at the end of event. Registration is essential.
This project is being supported and delivered in partnership with The Nature Conservancy and Murdoch University and is funded by the Fisheries Habitat Restoration Program, Perth NRM, the Australian Government and BCF.
