Northern Tablelands Chapter

Formerly operating as the Tenterfield Chapter, the Northern Tablelands Chapter is one of our longest-running OzFish chapters. The members of this chapter have made it their mission to educate recreational fishers on the importance of getting involved in fish habitat restoration. From restoring small creeks to protecting endangered species, this chapter leaves no stone unturned in their quest for better habitat and better fishing. OzFish members enjoy connecting with fellow anglers and the OzFish community across Australia. Many members give their time volunteering hours every year to local projects that protect, restore and revitalise your favourite fishing spots.

Location

The Northern Tablelands also known as the New England Tableland, is a plateau and a region of the Great Dividing Range in northern New South Wales, Australia. The region extends between Warialda and Delungra in the west, reaching the escarpment of the Great Dividing Range in the east, and down to Tamworth in the south. It includes major towns of Tenterfield, Inverell, Glen Innes, Armidale and Tamworth. The inland flowing rivers have their confluence with the Gwydir, Namoi and Macintyre river systems of the Murray-Darling River Basin. The only major water storage dam on the Northern Tablelands is Copeton Dam on the Gwydir River near Inverell.

Country

This Chapter is spread across Anaiwan, Kamilaroi, Dainggatti, Ngarabal, Banbai, Gumbainggier, Bundjalung and Bigambul Country.

Meeting

Members catch up periodically throughout the year for informal gatherings, discussing projects and enhancements to the local fish habitat. Meeting details, including dates and venues, are communicated to members via email notifications.
