Limestone Coast & SW Victoria Chapter

The OzFish Limestone Coast & South West Victoria is a group of like-minded fishers who firmly believe in the benefits of improving fish habitat to assist with increasing fish stocks. Due to human activity, many of the rivers in the region have been de-snagged, exhibit poor water quality, and are home to invasive carp. The reintroduction of snags for fish habitat is a real opportunity to improve river health in conjunction with carp removal.

Location

The Chapter covers quite a large geographical area, from Warrnambool in Victoria to Kingston SE in South Australia. It incorporates the SA locations of Mount Gambier, Millicent and Naracoorte and the Victorian towns of Warrnambool, Portland and Hamilton. The region covers the entire Glenelg River catchment, one of the largest in Victoria.

Country

This OzFish Chapter is located on the land and waterways of the Gunditjmara, Djab Wurrung, Jardwadjali, Buandig, Ngarrindjeri and Bindjali people.

Meeting

Members meet periodically throughout the year for informal gatherings, discussing projects and enhancements to the regions fish habitat. Meeting details, including dates and venues, are communicated to members via email notifications.
