Hervey Bay Chapter
Guardians of the Great Sandy Marine Park
The Hervey Bay OzFish Chapter is a dedicated group of passionate fishos committed to preserving and protecting the pristine waters and marine life of the Great Sandy Marine Park and surrounds. Our chapter is committed to promoting sustainable fishing practices and fostering a deeper connection between community and the ocean.
Location
Nestled in the heart of Queensland’s coastal paradise, spanning from Tin Can Bay to the Burrum River, from the upper limits of the coastal estuaries to the western shores of K’gari, Hervey Bay OzFish will serve the fish and fishos of this region.
Country
The Butchulla people are the Traditional Custodians of K’gari. Butchulla Country lies in the Great Sandy region on the south-east coast of Queensland Australia. Most references currently define Butchulla land as ranging across K’gari and the adjacent mainland from around Double Island Point in the south to the mouth of the Burrum River in the north, and west to Bauple Mountain.
Meeting
Members meetings are conducted monthly to discuss projects and opportunities in the region for fish habitat improvements and education opportunities. Meeting details including dates and venues will be communicated via email to all members.
